Southfork Landing's Development Team is dedicated to creating a lasting legacy in the Garden Valley that seeks to harmonize development with the natural surroundings in a way that complements rural Idaho rather than detracting from it.

The Southfork Landing development team includes: T. Erik Oaas, Steven H. Laney, C. Lloyd Mahaffey and John Johnston.

Developer Team

T. Erik Oaas graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the University of Montana in 1975 and served as President of a family-owned business in Montana.

In 1984, he moved to Boise and joined Micron Technology, Inc (MTI).  In 1989 he was appointed V.P. Finance, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Micron Custom Manufacturing Services, Inc. (MCMS) and also served as a member of its Board of Directors.

In 1995, when MCMS went public through a merger with two other companies to form Micron Electronics, Inc. (MEI), Erik was named Executive V.P. of Finance, CFO and served on the Board of Directors until he retired in 1998 leaving the company with no debt and in a strong cash position.

After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics from Brigham Young University, Steven H. Laney went to work as a Robotics Design Engineer at Santa Clara Plastics in Boise.

In 1988, Steve joined MTI as a Design Engineer; developing technology related products that helped the company diversify its product base. From there, Steve was tapped to carry his design and engineering expertise to the company’s customers in the technical marketing arena. He served in this capacity until 1989, when he was identified to lead the Sales and Marketing Department for MCMS and was named Director.

Preparing for an Initial Public Offering in 1995, the company named Steve V.P. Investor Relations, a position he held at MEI until his retirement in 2000. While at MEI, he fulfilled this key role on the team that in 1996 raised $276 million in a secondary stock offering for MEI.

From 2000 through 2002, Steve began investing in real estate throughout the Treasure Valley.

C. Lloyd Mahaffey received his Bachelor's degree, as an Honor Graduate, from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, in 1978. After The Citadel, he joined Apple Computer, helped launch the Macintosh, and ran the southeastern United States. In 1985, he took over Apple’s famed Education Division in Cupertino and led the unit to a commanding market leadership position of more than 70%.

After Apple, he joined Verifone; the world’s largest payment technology firm, rising to the position of Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure, he was responsible for HP’s billion dollar acquisition of Verifone in 1997.

In 1998, Mr. Mahaffey joined Redleaf Group, one of Silicon Valley’s top early stage venture firms as a Managing Partner. At the same time, he began investing in rural Idaho property. In 2004, he and his family relocated to Eagle in order to form Dynamis Group. During his first year as an Idahoan, Governor Kempthorne nominated him to the Economic Advisory Council for the State of Idaho. He also led the effort to create Idaho’s first wine appellation; Snake River Valley.

For 25 years, John Johnston has been building high end custom homes for discerning clients. John began his career during the hyper growth years in Northern Virginia.

Fifteen years ago, after Elk hunting in Idaho, he packed up his wife and 5 children and relocated to Eagle. Since then, Johnston Construction has built unique and memorable custom homes in a variety of top tier communities including Riverside, Two Rivers, Moon Lake Ranch, Banbury Meadows, Bown Crossing and, most recently, Tamarack Resort.

Two years ago, Johnston Construction teamed up with C. Lloyd Mahaffey to form Dynamis Group; a diversified design, development, construction and landscape company based in Eagle.
